I'm just having a cuppa and taking a break from felty rolling - I'm giving it all I've got in the vain attempt to burn off the calories from a couple of Cadbury's creme eggs.........but they were goooood.

Oh I don't think Cadbury's creme eggs have any calories, do they?

They have no calories if you eat them with your eyes shut, standing on one leg (no wobbling) and don't tell anyone you've eaten them.
Unfortunately I failed on all counts...therefore they had calories!
p.s. I think I've done enough felting to burn them off though.

How much rolling do I have to do to burn off two boxes of Thornton's, a box of Milk Tray and a 390g Galaxy? (That's since Christmas, not just this week!)

Until your arms drop off Zed!!
Hurrah! I've finished the piece I started yesterday and it's drying - think I'll celebrate with a cuppa and some more Eater chocolate.
It's a pear shape 'pod' with hole one side and cut-aways the other (sort of a reversible ornament) and when it's dry I think I may be tempted to add a few running stitches - don't know yet.

Lyn sounds like it might be nice with one of those fake tea lights in it.

Yes Ann, I had the same thought, but I have some fake tealights and the glow is not brilliant. Maybe I bought too cheaply! However, as wool is fire resistant, maybe an ordinary tealight would be better?
It could be interesting because where I've done cut-away on one side, the inner layer of felt is thin enough for light to show.

I'm looking forward to seeing that, Lyn

You could give it a try to see how it works Lyn but I don't think I would want to leave it alone or where it would cause harm if the wool eventually caught fire. Its not fire proof.

Setting fire to it is a good idea Ann - it just didn't work. It all looked so promising, but in the end, despite adding pretty handstitching, it was not something I wanted on my shelf. Hence you don't get to see a whole picture of it! The front was a pretty blue shot through with white silk tops and you could see the turquoise inner through the round hole. I cut the top after the pod was dry so that all the colours of the layers showed prettily (if you seal the cut when it's wet you lose the middle colour). The cut top was to allow light in to show up the turquoise. The resists worked lovely, but although the turquoise was thin, the tealight didn't show through at all! I added lemon and baby pink perle cotton threads....well I added some then I realised that I was trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Ah well, some you win, some you lose. All good experience. Attachments:

From what I can see, it looks good whether the light shines through or not. I like the cutouts.
