I'm so frustrated, I have so many projects floating in my head but can't see the wood for the trees and can't get started on any of them. I've made notes and the odd sketch, but the muse is not with me! HELP!

Well you can just start laying our something simple and see what it morphs into, or do something that is for someone else, or teach someone something, go to your finishing pile and finish up something waiting for the final touches.

Thanks Ann, just need to get more organised I suppose. Just after I posted that, my daughter sent me a toy pattern to trial before she puts it on sale, so that is keeping me more focussed today. It's turning out well, only a couple of amendments to add, then it will be ready to roll! It's always good to get someone to try out patterns, recipes etc. to see if there's something missing.

Judith - I think the just starting is sometimes the hardest part. I like Ann's suggestions. I personally think that sometimes you have to slog through without the "muse" and just do something. Once you get started, often the muse catches up.

The muse often appears like magic if you handle some fibre or fabric and start thinking 'what if....?'

After Lyn using her diary for Ruth's Challenge, I started too, and it really helps, even if it is just transfering stuff from the day before, it doesn't get lost pages back like it does in a notebook. I'm really going to try to be more organised this year.

Zed - my diary is about four inches away from my keyboard. It has made such a difference to my focus and productivity, but more importantly, I'm not getting stressed anymore if I have a 'difficult day'.

I always have several projects going at the same time. However deadlines will stress me out if I do not prioritize my work. I keep track of exhibits in my journal that is next to my computer and also post these deadlines on my studio wall. In the spring and fall it does get overwhelming.

I think the diary will prove invaluable to me this year, Lyn
