Oh, did anyone remember the Woody Allen monologue where Aliens invade us and hold us hostage to doing their laundry? I heard it on the radio years ago and it was hilarious.

Fount it, see how I can waist time! The Science Fiction Film -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wrote a science fiction film which I'll tell you about. It's ten after four in the afternoon, and everybody in the world mysteriously falls asleep. Just like that, they are driving cars, whatever they are doing, bang!, they got to sleep, the Russians, the Chinese, the Americans, and the whole world sleeps for exactly one hour, till ten after five, and they wake up at ten after five, and mysteriously upon awakening everybody in the world find themselves in the pants business. Stay with us, 'cause it's brilliant. Everybody is making cuffs and flies and cutting velvet, y'know, And a spaceship lands from another planet, and men get out with jackets and shirts and black socks - no trousers at all. They say: "Are the pants ready?" We say: "No. Could you come back thursday?". They say they must have them, 'cause they are going to a wedding, and we work dillingently and make pants constantly and they come to get them, and when they come to pick them up, they leave us with socks, hankerchiefs, pillowcases and soiled linnen, and they say: "Do it!", and the president of the United States goes on television and says that an alien superpower from outer space with superior intelligence is bringing us their laundry, and they are foiled, 'cause they travelled a hundred and seventeen million lightyears to pick it up, and they forget their ticket.

The book is the one you suggested, drawing for the complete and utter beginner. I need to go find some wire. There should be some around here somewhere.

I've not been too well so far in week 5 (I'm on the mend) but I've done sketching and thinking about what I'd like to do soon and I've started to lay out what I need on the table.

Life gets in the way sometimes but it sounds like you're staying on track Lyn. You'll be ready to go and will get more done because of the time spent in planning and layout ahead of time. I'm going to finish up my applique couching today and then do a little research on the late Bronze age art.

Waiting for paint to dry. How exciting is this. I managed to paint another canvas black and am ready to sew my fiber art onto it. However, all the rain made our yard yucky and that got tracked into the house, so I was up at 5:00 am cleaning up the mess. I guess people don't realize that I am a famous artist and I don't have time for this stuff. Hope you finger is getting better, Ruth. What a terrible place to have stitches.

I can't believe you found that old monologue of Woody Allen. I don't know why that has stuck in my head after all these years. That was when Woody Allen was actually funny. Thanks, I will have to check that out.

PICT9660 by fiberruth, on Flickr Per my post a couple of weeks ago, I started on an "inkblot" type of painted paper in my journal and drew Stanley the Snail. It only took a few minutes and it was a fun exercise.

You made me laugh Judy and your so right, how dare someone else not be there to clean up for you lol I love Stanley Ruth, hes so cute I was waiting for paint and gesso to dry to so i know how exciting that is lol lots of fun though and i couldnt believe that my daughter actually sat down at my table with me ( for hours ) and started her own canvas, her favorite artist is Tim Burton so she's doing a mix media canvas for herself. he's a bit dark for me but i find some of his work fun to look at !! I'll sneak a picture when she's finished because she's doing a great job xo

Stanley is sweet! Love the eyes. What's piqued your interest in Bronze Age art Ruth?
As a fellow famous artist Judy, I totally agree that we should not have to do mundane chores and as soon as I win the lottery I'm going to have servants - lots of servants.
That's heartwarming news about your daughter sitting with you Karen - an experience shared doubles the joy.

the snail is cute Ruth and the background sets him off. It is nice when they will spend time with you. She would like Edward Gorey too I bet. It is dark but funny. Lyn and Judy, I want minions you don't have to pay them.

Thanks! Lyn - my local group is studying a bit about art history every time we meet. We started with prehistoric and we're moving forward in time. So we are currently at the Bronze age. I have to say I liked the prehistoric cave paintings much better. The Bronze age isn't doing it for me. I obviously need a cook since I just slice my finger off when trying to cook

What were you cutting up Ruth. I know bagels cause a lot of injuries every year.
