Time goes quickly, doesn't it? It's almost February. I've been hampered a bit this week by slicing my finger open and getting 6 stitches. It's hard to type without your index finger. But I'm going to try some stitching today on my last applique sample for class. I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh no. Not good. I spent all morning driving my daughter to and from her job so that I could take her to her dental appointment. Then shopping for groceries. So, I am just getting started on mounting my Dewey Cockatiel project onto canvas and adding screw eyes and wire. Not too productive today. Tomorrow will be better.

Sorry to hear about your finger Ruth - I hope it's not too painful but I know it's going to be a nuisance while it heals.

Week five! This challenge makes me focus on how creative time can slip through your fingers unless you're mindful. (We ought to keep this as a permanent challenge.)
I still feel like a piece of chewed up string (or, as my Auntie Doris would say 'tuppence worth of nothing'), but I've written a creative goal in my diary for today and I'll see how it goes.
I'd like to make another vessel and I'm thinking of putting a nuno felted decoration in the final layer....still working it out.

Laundry does not count as fiber. So while I do this nasty chore, I am also doing some planning for the new canvas' that were delivered last week. I have 3 fiber art pieces that still need to be mounted onto black canvas. I will then have enough exhibits to last a long time. I am concentrating now on more Mixed Media.

Well I stitched yesterday and it worked out OK. I have more trouble typing than stitching. Hope your plans go well today Lyn and Judy I hope the laundry is done quickly and that there are no missing socks

sorry to here about your finger and the stitches. it is so hard when any of your fingers is out of commission. I read a storey once about where sock go. A magical land of lost things, lost socks, lost pens, lost note and some one's mind because they where drunk out of their mind. It was a funny story but I can't remember what it was called. I did some fiber each day. I finished felting the loops onto their attachment pieces yesterday. It was quite a productive day as the computer took all day and into the night to download the windows 8 upgrade. Its taken me most of the day to sort out how to do things on it and how to get the right version of IE10 as the default so I have my toolbars. Tonight I plan to start some of the how to draw book I took out of the library. It would like me to buy at least $50-$100 in drawing pads and pencils. I will see how I muddle along with only 2 sizes of pads.

Ann - don't buy all that stuff. Just use what you have. What book did you get? Tell me how you like windows 8. I am considering upgrading but dread it.

The challenge can go as long as you would like - I guess my point was to help people develop habits that would carry forward even without a challenge. Karen - I am so happy that you are loving what you're doing. No point in forcing yourself into perfection. I am learning to enjoy imperfection

Windows 8 is ok once you get over the fear. I had to upgrade recently. But I've only learnt enough to enable me to do the things I want. My computer is like my washing machine - loads of programmes but I only use 2 of them - the rest are a mystery.

So far its ok Ruth. I did take me 10 min to figure out how to restart it. they have set up your start menu to look like an ipad with little squares. if I had kids that were computer geeks I would probably do better but they ask me so that's no good. I did it because win7 kept causing problems. It was freezing and kept shutting down. if you want to keep IE the way it looks now I can tell you how.

Windows 8 is a challenge I am not going to take on just yet. I have enjoyed Ruth's daily dose of fiber challenge, it has made me think how I can fit a bit more fiber in my every day.

I hope I don't have to upgrade to Windows 8 anytime soon. Hope those stitches don't get too uncomfortable. I had two hand surgeries and know the problems. I spent a whole day yesterday with oil painting on the black canvas that I am mounting my fiber art on. But, then got too ambitious and will block some of it out. Sometimes, less is more. We had rain like you would not believe yesterday. Did a little painting this morning and will putter around in the studio this afternoon.
