I made this pair of slippers for my husband quite a while ago. I had promised to put a sole on them but didn't want to paint on the goo. I finally found a spray on Plasti Dip. It was in black but that was perfect for these grey and black slippers. It worked like a charm and was so much easier than painting it on. I did 4 coats and it is very sturdy. Always happy when I find an easier way! PICT9587 by fiberruth, on Flickr PICT9600 by fiberruth, on Flickr PICT9601 by fiberruth, on Flickr

I'm not into making slippers (probably because I don't wear them) but I'm always pleased to see photos of handmade felted slippers. I've seen loads over the years and I reckon that's the neatest sole. It's perfect! Did you use tape to get such a neat line?

That great Ruth. I am sure he will love wearing them. I will have to have a look for the spray on plasti dip. It would be good for lots of non slip jobs.

Thanks! I did use painters tape and covered the part I didn't want sprayed with a plastic garbage bag. It looks so much better than the pair where I painted the same stuff on. I just happened to see this in the hardware store. I think it's new but it would be great for anything that you need not to slip.

It looks really professional. I wonder if there are other uses for that stuff? I have had to get rid of some shoes that had slick soles. I probably could have used it.

You're supposed to cover tool handles with it. But anything that needs to be nonstick would work.

I'll be looking out for some of that Ruth. I love my felted slippers so much that the soles wear out very quickly. Lyn, I have never liked slippers and didn't posess any until I made my first felted pair. They feel so good, I'm now absolutely hooked and wear them all the time around the house and often pop outside in them too if it's dry, which is possibly why they wear out so quickly!

I hope that's available here, I could never find the dip and grip stuff. It looks really good, you did a nice job keeping it neat, Ruth

Judith - this will definitely increase the wear and I think if you did 6 coats or more, they would work for outside wear too. I was the same way with my slippers and they wore out quickly. I haven't gotten a new pair made yet.
I hope you all can find it on the other side of the pond!

oh Ruth I like that , much smoother finish than the paint on stuff. Will take the details and see if it will be available here at our local hardware store. Just perfect for the soles of slippers. I need to make another pair for myself and hang onto them this time round, unfortunately my boots I made last year were a perfect fit for a friend.....gone in 60 seconds.

If you have a tire recycler (the cind that chops them up ) near you you may be ble to get tire crumbles. They are fine ground and if you dip the wet slippers into them and then spray a few more layers of paint. They are supoosed to be really good for out side.
