Thank you Ruth for that last post of yours. I've blogged about it! Week One: I wanted to make a cobweb collared vessel and here it is - 27cm tall. Attachments:

Very nice Lyn. The vase looks sturdy exept for the top edge, is it?

Lyn, your vase and bowl are truly beautiful. I love the color and shapes on them. Today I am doing laundry and working on my photography skills. One thing that continues to bug me, is that I really miss the capabilities of my old Nikon, SLR film camera. I still have it, but it can no longer be fixed. The clarity on that camera was so superior to my little digital, point and shoot, that I am always disappointed in the pictures. My flash attachment even had settings for low light and strong light. But the new digital SLR's are so expensive, and I would have to have a college degree to operate them. So, there you are.

Thank you Judy.
Ann - yes the vase is sturdy felt and stands steady. The top is cobweb. I made it on a one-end-open resist and it was very fiddly working two kinds of felt on one resist. The cobweb felt wanted to snuggle down with the solid felt and it was a battle of wills to keep the cobweb away!

Those are gorgeous Lyn. I really like the cobweb collar effect. I bet it was a chore to keep it from sneaking down and joining the more sturdy wool.

This is my merino/silk scarf from last week; I haven't had a chance to do much else aside from a bit of papercutting, now we have trudged trough the Harry Potter box set I should be able to do a bit of needlefelting while my small one naps on me during the day

Oh, I meant to say, Judy...does your camera have ISO settings that you can adjust? If it is a superbright day, put the ISO down to 80, if it is a bit dull, put it up to 200, otherwise try to keep it on 100. Higher than 200 will make it look like tv static. Also try photographing your work on different backgrounds, digital cameras try to 'equalize' what they see which is why soil often appears purple next to grass, red against some backgrounds will not show up, and royal blue is a pain, it's like they reflect light back at the camera or something

Thanks Zed, I will check that out. I do know about the different backgrounds. I seem to get better color when I use no flash, but it comes out blurry unless I use my tripod for closeup. My outdoor shots are always good.

Yeah, the flash just flattens everything. I have a reflective card for trying to increase the natural light. Usually from October to March it's perfect for taking photos here, but it has been so dark. I like outside too, but I have a lot of pigeons that like to sit on my roof or fly over and get in the way
