I've just spotted a tutorial video on the Studio for using a diz to make carded rovings. It's a great idea, I've never thought of using a diz in this way, and I thought I'd bring it to the attention of members who've not seen this before. Here's the link feltingandfiberstudio.com/40162-2/ My husband is making me a trolley for my carder so that I can have it available for use all the time, then I'll find myself the plastic (probably a milk bottle) to make some dizes.

I am glad you liked it. you can vary the size of the roving by changing the size of the hole in the diz. A surprising amount f wool can squeeze through a tiny hole.

A surprising amount of wool can squeeze through a tiny hole I've seen them in use on linen I think it was. I'm always amazed that you don't end up with lots of loose tufts of fluff from just pulling a lump off when trying to pull the fibres through the hole. I've found a nice clear square bottle which will give me at least 4 different sized ones. Mind you, I've no idea when my husband will get round to finishing my new Carder trolley, so I'm not holding my breath on getting down to it.

Very simple, and that's why it's such a great idea.
