Karen - you should be able to read the blog without signing in. Just click on the little square at the bottom of this page that says The Felting and Fiber Studio. Anyone can read the blog, even you!

Here's my attempt at depicting the weather where I live. I looked into the garden last week and I could see the changes being made by the coming of the autumn weather - most noticeably the falling leaves from the trees and the falling petals from the flowers. The sky was very blue and the dying flowers looked so sad with half their petals on the ground that I thought it would translate well into felt for the challenge. The nuno felted petals were cut from my favourite skirt that had seen it's last summer, so it felt right to use the fabric to depict the falling leaves. The size of the piece is 18"x19". (I've put it in my latest blog post with a link to this forum.) Sorry, the pictures won't expand. Don't know what I did wrong! Anyway, I've put them on Flickr and our blog where you can see them bigger.

That's really lovely Lyn, I especially love the flowers, and what a good use for a favourite summer skirt which has reached its own autumn!

Thank you Ann, Ruth and Judith.
Ann - stitching on felt is great. Have a go - you'll be pleased with what happens.
I loved that skirt, but if I had tried to wear it for another summer I reckon it would have fallen off me just like the petals on the flower!

Just as well you up-cycled it then Lyn, or you may have been in trouble! I love stitching on felt too, whether on the machine or by hand. It can really bring things to life.

That's gorgeous, Lyn I've got a few items of clothing I should probably do the same with.

Actually Zed, the fabric from worn out clothes tends to be a bit 'thinner' so it felts in easier!

I've got two shirts with holes in that I love, I only wear them around the house now, but maybe it's time to recycle them.

If you post them into Flikr you can chose a size to post. Or is that what you did and it didn't work?
