Judith asked me to post these photos for everyone to see. I have copied the information she sent as well. I had a great time being part of Fiona Duthie's latest class. It was her first time taking a project-based class, rather than a sample/technique class. I don't know if any other members were among the class participants. This is the vessel I made. It has a dark charcoal interior and a light grey exterior. The idea was to have a dark colour inside which would result in shadowing on the outside, highlighting the textures we created. I might add some French knots in the blank area where the gills turn the corner. I think they could provide a link to the shibori pebbles. You are welcome to post these photos for me. You will know what to do. Kind regards, Judith

That is beautiful, Judith! It must have been a lot of work with all those gills to make! I love the effect of all those techniques on the surface of a vessel, and your choice of colours is wonderful to highlight the shapes and different textures.

Fabulous texture! Amazing Job. Have you tried putting a light inside or is it too thick?

Fabulous texture! Amazing Job. Have you tried putting a light inside or is it too thick? Thank you. No, I haven't tried putting a light inside it but I'm very certain it will be way too thick. Perhaps the techniques could be adapted to include in a lampshade where diffused lighting is acceptable.

That is a beautiful, sculptural piece - it would look great in a modern-style room. What a lot of work!

That looks good - makes me feel tired to think of all the work involved though. I think that a light with that sort of texture on a thinner piece would definitely work, perhaps nuno felted for extra strength as I should think that the textured bits would be heavy, but the effect of the light shining through would be very interesting.
