Does anybody sell on Pinterest? If yes a good selling place? Costs? I will follow this topic, as my friend who just completed a course on digital marketing is urging me to go on Pinterest, because it is supposedly the platform where people go when they are already half-interested in buying. As opposed to Instagram, where one tends to go to just have a look, not looking to buy anything. She also says that it takes less effort/time compared to Instagram, as you can prepare your posts in advance and automate the posting.

I have a presence on Pinterest but not a selling one. Not sure about it as a business, but who knows.

I've just asked Google about selling on Pinterest and it looks as if it might just be worth doing. There are several sites giving small business information re selling on Pinterest. According to this one fitsmallbusiness.com/how-to-sell-on-pinterest/ "Selling on Pinterest is free. However( ), before you can sell on Pinterest, you’ll need an online store. Shopify (our recommended ecommerce platform) has a built-in integration with Pinterest. Building a Shopify store typically costs $250 to $500 in startup fees and around $50 to $100 in monthly expenses, not including transaction fees." There might be cheaper ways of setting up the necessary online store, but I expect that you'd need to balance the cost with the complexity of setting it up whichever way you choose. Personally, I don't think I'll bother. At the moment on my own website I'm just asking people to contact me if they are interested in buying and we can come to a suitable arrangement between us.

As for websites. WordPress has plug-ins for e-commerce and Square online has free, selling websites. I am sure you can pay extra to get a better one. The nice thing is you can sell online and you can get their app and a portable swipe or tap system. it has integrated inventory and invoice and picture apps. If I ever sell online I will probably get one. I do use the portable system and love it.
I think Pinterest is great and make sure you watermark you stamp your web address onto the pictures so people can find you. Ann

I recently built my website for selling with Wix, and I only say that if I were to go back I would probably go for a system that can integrate with the portable card payment reader and so on, like Square.
Also, some like Wix say that they are free, but in the end they are free only for basic websites and you need to buy the part that makes payment possible, and that has a subscrption fee: one needs to be careful and understand all the actual costs. I had all my website ready with Wix and did not want to shelve it when I understood about the costs to be able to make payments on the website, so I just went ahead and bought it.
