Hello, thank you for the add. I work in wool by crocheting then felting. Mostly art bags but art pieces too.

Hello and Welcome. That sounds interesting. Are you able to upload any photos for us to see? I think this is the link you will need, but I'm sure one of the other members will put me right if I haven't picked the right page feltingandfiberstudio.com/community-photo-submissions/

Welcome, I'm glad you joined us. It looks like you are having fun. To add a photo here, you can take any of the photos on your WordPress blog, right click and copy the url for the photo. Then, on the forum, you hit Reply (upper right hand corner), not quick reply. There you will see a little photo icon, click on that and paste in your photo url. That should work for you. We'd love to hear more about what you do.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Yes the link did work - what size is your pretty piece of crocheted felt? Do you have any photos of your art bags before felting?

Picture is of one of my work horse machines. This one is a Maytag the other one is a Speed Queen, from about the same era. I like these verses standard washing machines as the wool “sluff” does not gum up the machines plus the agitation is so much greater. I do have to heat water separately as they do not hook up to the water outlets but again I can control the temperature of the water that way too. This is the process i enjoy the most! To see the wool felt up to the size I was expecting and the movement of the wool as it felted. I feel it blooming into the design I saw in my minds eye as I was crocheting it and also it determines what it will become. On a side note I ended up wringing my finger through the wringer last week, ouch! My own fault. I hope this is the picture of the machine as the previous one was not what I intended to post.

I guess this should have moved over to one of the boards. Sorry still a learning process for me using this board.

A vintage machine indeed. I should say it's from the 1940s? It is good that you can control the wash and water heat with this machine. The modern machines do their own thing whether you want them to or not. (A bit like computers really!)

Wow, your work is lovely afiberartist. I love your washing machine and roller too. I do sympathise with the injury.

I hope you don't mind, I edited your post so that the photos would show.
Great washer! Sorry about your finger, I hope it's all better now. You're getting some great textures.

Hello and welcome! Your work is very interesting! Do you have any more photos of the process? Your photo of the ancient washing machine is fantastic! I love it that you have gone back in time to get back control of the whole process! Looking forward to your next posts! Caterina
