Hello. I wanted to experiment with silk scarfs as details for my paintings, and I bought one that I really like for a few pounds. Actually, I was tempted to keep it for me! In the end, curiosity won, and here it is in my last portrait, "Claire". www.dropbox.com/s/zrxvovnfhnvnypo/img_20211128_100045.jpg?dl=0I managed to add the scarf bit without stitching it, I had been really doubtful that I could make it stay as I wanted (more or less) without any sewing. I actually made the wool body underneath the dress, to help keep the silk in place. Proportions of the figure came out a bit off, but all in all I am not too worried about it, I wanted to achieve a good balance of values even though Claire was to be very pale and uniform in colours and the background was very green and brown: I think that I achieved a not too bad result, everything considered.

Great job Caterina! The silk dress really adds a nice detail to the portrait. Good for you with experimenting with the silk scarf!

Thank you, Ruth, Charley and Lyn. Ypur words are very encouraging.
I am glad that you liked my experimenting with silk: I still have most of the same scarf to use, and I also bought a maybe-cotton-gauze scarf at the charity shop that I wish to use next! I have a few ideas about this last one, I am not at all sure how it will work out: more experiments to come!
