I need some help from experienced Facebook users or anyone more intelligent than myself ! I've created a FB group to support students of my course. The group is private by invitation only. If the person is my FB friend I invited them by their FB name, they accepted and became members of a group. If they are not my friends, I have to invite them by sending an invitation e-mail. And I do not understand how it works! I created a dummy FB account just to test the situation and as an invited person I see the invite in my e-mails, accept it but I can't see anything in FB notifications and do not understand how to join the group. Sorry if it's unclear Any thoughts are very welcome.

Thank you Ruth! I believe that I'm doing exactly as told and I know that the recipient (like myself from another FB account) is receiving an invitation e-mail and pressing "Join" button! And that's it! I (as invited person) can't see any way to go any further, how to go to the group in question. Just two years ago I was invited this way and it worked nicely... At the moment I invite people who are my FB friends and it works (like with yourself). The funny side of this wretched business with a FB group that I have a strong feeling that I'd better drop it at all as nobody is interested

Is there some kind of approval needed from the admin side? Perhaps you could send each one a link to the group once they have been approved?

P.S. I think that there will be people interested. I don't think they have noticed that it is available. You could invite them all and then I could send an email with a link to all the students.

I thought I would send invitation e-mails tomorrow. It will be the end of the first week so that it has been enough time for all of the students to get their bearings on forum. Just didn't want to add to possible confusion with so much of information they were getting.

Perhaps when you send them the invitation also send them a URL to the group. Can you see any join requests? Is the group private or secret?. there is a Facebook help group that is very good. It's run by a very knowledgeable group of Facebook members, not the company. www.facebook.com/groups/members.helping.members/

Thank you very much Ann! It's a private group. It seems I'm getting through eventually. I'm going to send mass invitation today - to all the students and see if it works. If not I will seek more help!

Thank you very much Ruth and Ann! I just kept knocking and got it right eventually Some students found it more familiar to post on FB and now I have extra job to comment on their works there and moving their pictures back to forum so that the other students could see it. I should have thought better before starting it !

If you look at the instructions for posting pictures here from Facebook that might save you some time in sharing the pictures back to your class on the workshop forum.
