I have the stages of making a hat in miniature, ending in a small hat on a stuffed sheep, that was used for a display. That sounds interesting. Do you have a photo you can share?

Following on from my post about the felt swatch / information I was putting together a couple of days ago here are some photos. I had a lovely moment this morning when a mother and child went through it all at the exhibition, read the descriptions, felt and discussed all the types of felt and prefelt and thanked me for what they’d learned. It was delightful and made it feel worth the effort. www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/48524722www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/48524724www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/48524726I put metal eyelets in the corners of the felt and laminated sheets so I can swap or add things as I think of them.

That's a great idea Lindsay and a good way to use up scraps of felt too. It's great that people appreciate that extra effort. Telling a story always seems to help to sell things.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. It did take a while to do but as Ruth says, it has been a useful way of bringing together and organising lots of different samples and I can use it when I’m talking to people about making felt as well as people looking through it on their own. The contrast between prefelt and felt is particularly clear and the range of textures, from ultra fine merino to Finnish wool and 4 types of nuno felt make it very tactile. The only drawback is that the chain is a bit too long which makes leafing through the ’pages’ rather chaotic but that should be easy enough to resolve!

For my daily dose today I did my year-end report for the guild, I wrote a blog post for tomorrow and then started to get things together to teach a nunofelt scarf class tomorrow.

Today I had to kick myself. I’ve had lots of exhibitions running into each other but over the past few days had managed to squeeze in making an extra picture for an exhibition I’m hanging tomorrow. I dried it overnight on a heated clothes dryer and was just getting it ready to frame today when I noticed a yellow patch and realised I hadn’t actually fully rinsed it. Doh! There was a split second when I wondered if it might be ok, but with a heavy heart I plunged it into the sink. So now it’s drying overnight again and I’m going to have to get up nice and early to try to finish & frame it before heading off to hang it. Ooh that’s annoying.
