I am working on more of my stitch class homework. I thought I'd try some pears with different types of machine embroidery stitches. This is granite stitch or going in small circles. I had a problem getting smooth circles with this method. This is mossing stitch which I learned from an article by Ken Smith (Aussie machine embroiderer). Can you tell any difference in the stitching? You can see more photos on my blog.

The second one certainly looks smoother or less textured. They both look good. I love the scrunched fabric on your blog, it's gorgeous I think I've seen Ken Smith's work, did someone post something on here?

I like the granite stitched pear best and I'm looking forward to seeing your Carol Shinn pear.
The two pieces of fabric that you scrunched up to dry look like billowing silk - fabulous!

Ken Smith does some really cool tree bark with lichens that is very realistic. I might have posted about him before. It seems the granite stitch pear is the favorite.

I was looking on his site, I liked his story about customs wanting him to declare one of his pieces because it looked so real
