The brown pair are way too big for me, very solidly felted but have a friend in hospital recovering from a heart attack and they will fit her so we shall see this week. I have painted the soles with the black latex dip stuff, I like that it is not too obviously done being dark colours. I needle felted a variety of the Angora locks around the top and sewed on a few silver long beads. filename_06 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr filename_05 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr filename_04 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr The white pair fit, these are a combination of NZ Romney merino and locks from one of the goats. White is very unforgiving colour, they show every little bit of whatever you haven't vcacummed off your floor and I don't like the way the laytex has dried, wish they did a neutral or clear colour for white. I wanted a lighter pair to put on my feet when I curl up and watch TV at night, we have a lot of polished floor boards in our old homstead and I knew I had to put a non slip application on the soles, way too dangerous for me without that. Don't think I will do white again for a base. will try for a pair of boot style next. This is my first attempt at slippers. It was good to work with soapy bubbles after a long break away from the wet felting process. filename_03 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr filename_02 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr filename_01 by Asset Crafts, on Flickr

I think your friend will be pleased with the slippers and the pretty locks will be cheerful for her.
The white ones are lovely with the flower detail - and yes, it is a shame that you can't get clear latex for the soles.
It is good to get all soapy with the felting - glad you had fun!

The slippers came out great. The locks are a really nice touch. The flower is very sweet. They do make the tool dip in clear. I had some several years ago. Check around your hardware and tool stores.

The laytex I used on the white slippers looked off white light cream coloured but it dried to that colour. The tool dip we found came in black yellow blue and red, will definately ask them though if they can get a clear one.

Very nice! I've never seen the dip and grip stuff here, but I did try out a couple of silicone products not so long ago, see if they'd make good alternatives to rubber matting for the backs of felt trivets. Clear bathroom silicone sealer worked really well. I did try to take photos at the time, but being clear, it didn't really show up well.

Both the slippers look wonderful, well done. Always good to get back into the soapy wet felting.

Yeah, it's just a shame they don't do it in the £1 shops like the white sealer, tess

I love the looks of the slippers. Never heard of the tool dip, but I can see how it would be great for the project. Since I am very new to everything here, I am wondering how you were able to make them the right size. Trial and error? Patterns? Forms?

Now there's an idea - use up the spare bathroom sealant and get a nice sole on the slippers! Thanks for the tip.
On my white slippers, I made the soles in dark grey.
Tess, the angora locks look super.

The slippers are made over a resist. You usually make the pattern from your own feet. If you want a perfect fit you can do the final shrinking on your own feet. If you live in Europe there is someone that sells styrofoam feet in different sizes. I haven't been able to find them here in North America

I am thinking about that styrofoam feet part. No, never saw such a thing here in the USA. Learned something new today. I guess it is not too different from knitting a pair of slippers. I know that they have patterns for that. I am not a knitter, but do a lot of sewing, as you know.
