A friend of mine is a very very keen craft fair/show/market visitor. The other day I took my felted soaps, all 43 of them!, to show her. To my surprise she hadn't got a clue what they were! When I told her she immediately said 'Do I cut them open to get to the soap?' What??? - Noooooo!!! After I explained what they were she loved them and wants some from me for Christmas presents.
Hopefully I will be safeguarding against this kind of bewilderment at my fair with an A4 sign my techy friend has printed for me explaining about felted soaps. I have listed bullet points on it that Lyn supplied us with a while back.
FELTED SOAPS
Soap with a wool covering Lasts longer and is more economical than liquid soap Makes a lovely gift/stocking filler Easy to hold Felt acts as a scrubby Makes your drawers smell nice!
I think I will also say to any purchaser the wool shrinks with the soap, I wish I had added this to the sign but I won't be changing it now.

Education is needed! I had an enquiry recently from someone who had read my tutorial on my blog and she was confused about whether it was actually soap.
I think an information sign on your table with the soap is not only essential but it may generate sales.
I had a little giggle at 'makes your drawers smell nice' - people of my generation usually refer to underpants/knickers as 'drawers' (comes from the time when underwear was drawn on with laces/cords).

Yes, you definitely need a sign. And you'll still have to explain but at least the sign gets the conversation started.

I have a sign and I also have small, maybe 1.5 inches, square with info on it so I can give one with each soap so the recipient knows what it is. the quick and ease explanation when it's busy is soap and a washcloth all in one. I use a template in word and then cut them apart.

the template I have is 4 across and 5 down. It says felted soap and then under it says:
Soap wrapped in fine wool to gently exfoliate and polish your skin to a healthy glow. The wool will continue to felt and shrink as you use the soap.

Having an info sheet is a great idea - Before I got into this felting lark I was given a felted soap and was rather confused as to exactly what to do with it! :-)

Soap sales update
Pleased to report that after attending two craft fairs, I managed to sell 33 of my 43 soaps. I call that a result

Wow, that's great! Very good percentage sold. Did you sell anything else? Did you enjoy doing the fairs?
