Inspiration is all around us, but is there one particular source for you?
My greatest inspiration comes from my daughter, Annie. Without her influence I would never have tried felting or free motion stitching and over the years she has opened my eyes to exciting possibilities with textiles. She's still encouraging me to 'loosen up' after I'd spent years constrained by exact knitting and sewing patterns.

I am not sure really. there are many artists whos work I admire. I would have to say to wool itself really. I have always loved fiber and yarns but not knitting kind of left me with nothing to do. when I discovered felting it gave me a way to work with yarns and fiber.

I was inspired to start working with fiber arts by an article in Cloth, Paper, Scissors. I am always inspired by my fellow fiber artists in our small group that meets monthly. And I'm inspired always by Mother Nature.

Nature inspires me constantly. I am always taking time to look at a beautiful sky, a sunrise, sunset, foliage, trees, flowers etc etc. I look and I think 'I could felt that', or 'I wish I could felt that' !
Other artists work inspires me too.

Nature for sure, but I am most inspired by what I see and learn here by members and by other fiber artists. We have a great bunch of talented artists here who love to experiment and learn.

My first inspiration was a woman who made felted gnome/elf-like folk and I wanted to have a go so I bought her book, I wasn't content with that I wanted to do more and find out more.
Then that led to looking for inspiration and I really struggled with that, I had attempted some different approaches when I stumbled across you wonderful felters then I really got inspired, creative and tried different techniques - you gave me confidence.
I would say now for me my inspiration comes from what the fibres and inclusions do, what I see in the felt and then I build on it, I love embellishment so that has to be part of it too.

I agree - this is a great place for support and encouragement!

Probably my mum, who was always dressmaking when I was little and had me 'embroidering' in simple running stitch at the age of about four or five. Without that inspiration I wonder if i'd have got into crafts at all. Now though, thanks to social media, inspiration comes from all sorts of people - on Pinterest, on this forum, on blogs ... trouble is there's so much inspirational material out there, I probably spend more time looking at it than felting.

You are right Penguin - I reckon I achieved more before I had the internet. It's a double edged sword isn't it?

It really is - on the one hand I've learned a huge amount browsing ... on the other, I haven't put that much of it into practice!
