Zed re-kindled my interest in silk paper, so I made a piece using silks in sea colours. I know the idea of forming a shape from lots of little shapes isn't new, but I fancied making a fish from lots of little fish. So I made a base of white merino and arranged the cut out silk fishes. After felting I was pleased with the result but I must have had my layers uneven because the wool felted more east to west then it did north to south, so my fish ended up a bit fatter and shorter than I'd planned! He looks a much nicer shape in my pre-felting pics. Doh! I'm going to machine over it later in the week.

Ha, great idea Lyn The uneven shrinkage is probably because of the silk paper. I used some of mine yesterday, just the wispy bits from around the edges of the different sheets and it really affected the shrinkage

I think he is great. If you really want him longer user your steam iron to heat and soften it and the stretch him out. You do have to be careful to stretch out the whole thing and not just the edges. I don't think he needs it, I like him fat.
