Last week I made several different colors of silk paper and on Friday I made this simple little picture. I thought I would share it before it is completely embroidered so you can see it without the embroidery. daisies by pamd8, on Flickr

really nice Pam. I really like how you are pulling the leaves out of the background with the embroidery.

Thanks so much, but it was really more of an experiment - and something to do at night in front of the tv (the embroidery).
Ann, each individual leaf was laid on separately, although, as you can see they kind of melded together in felting. All I am doing is separating them again, and highlighting some of them, with the embroidery.
I'm still unsure of what I am going to do with the daisy petals, but I will figure it out, I suppose, by the time all the leaves and purple flowers are finished. The daisy petals are really pretty delicate as they didn't felt in as well as the others. I think it's because I used a bunch of unusual fibers in the silk paper. I embroidered around the petals of one daisy, but I really don't like the effect.
I think I'll try something really different next time.

Beautiful! I'm not sure the daisies will need to be embellished. They are your focal point and look great without anything

Really lovely, look forward to seeing it when you've finished the embroidery, which you always do so well.

I don't think the daisies need it either. if you really want to do something maybe just outline them.

Thanks for all your suggestions. After taking a second (or 25th) look at it, I think you are right and I don't think I will embroider the daisies. However, I am thinking of adding a butterfly or two or three in there somewhere!
On the other hand, I haven't been working on it this weekend. I have been ....wait for it.....
sewing clothes! Yes, me. I haven't sewed any clothing since my kids were little, but a book intrigued me. It's titled Improv Sewing. The projects looked simple enough that I might could use felt to make them, so I ordered the book. Upon its arrival, I went immediately to the fabric store and picked up a few yards of jersey fabric. That was Friday and my dh left for a visit with our oldest son in Oregon early Saturday morning. Saturday I made my first piece, which was a dress - simple, easy, about two hours of work, which included at least an hour of figuring out where to find this or that or the other in my house. I spent the rest of the day embroidering the dress.
Sunday I made a skirt and did appliques with embroidery.
Monday I made a matching (they all match since they were all from the one and only fabric I purchased) shell top with a matching applique and stitching around the neckline and armholes. I actually LOVE them all. Simple, no pattern to worry over, neckline of my choice, sleeves or sleeveless, long or short, it's all to my preference! And so EASY!
I'm out of fabric now, so I guess I will finish my daisy panel tonight, and dh is home tomorrow morning, so I have to start cooking again. Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate felt, which really shouldn't be too hard! Actually some of the projects in the book are made of wool felt, but it's not exactly what I have in mind.
