My sister Margaret is visiting and we felted some slippers yesterday. She has never felted before but did great. These are her slippers. She used Falkland wool, pre-yarn, silk cap and silk noil. She was really happy with them. These are the slippers I made for my hubby plus an I-pad cover for Margaret. You can read more about the process on my blog post. ruthsfiberphotos.blogspot.com/2012/05/felting-slippers.html

Very nice slippers Ruth, I bet your sister won't consider anything other than felted wool slippers in future! They can't be beaten. :0)

Those slippers are pretty! I can't see her face in the photo, but I imagine she's smiling widely with pride.

What beautiful slippers. I haven't gotten the nerve to try making them yet, but maybe some day. Love the decorations.

Pam - you can make them - if you can make bags, you can make slippers.

They are fab!
I'd love to make something like this for my little girl, is there a tutorial available online anywhere?

Sarah - do you know how to make something with a resist? If so, you just draw around the shape of your foot and add about an inch around the entire foot for shrinkage (depending on the wool you use). Then just cover the resist with many layers of wool - slippers need a lot and cut out a circle for the foot to come out after you've gotten it to the pre-felt stage. I know Pat Sparks has a tutorial about slippers but they are a different shape than these.

Thanks Karen. My husbands were really thick because he wore through the last pair so quickly.
