Hello everyone. In my 'welcome new members' thread I mentioned that I was making a wall hanging using nepps (little felt balls) as dots to create a design in the style of pointillism. I have finally finished it - not yet framed. I'm pretty happy with it but it was a bit nerve-wracking to do. There came the moment when I just had to take the plunge and dive in to wet it down and see what happened. I certainly learnt a lot, and I think I might have a go at another one, maybe a more complex picture. You can see photos here: flicstarstudios.com/2012/05/05/pointillism/

Great job! I have found nepps hard to work with so I think you did a fantastic piece.

That looks really good I've been meaning to try some of those smaller nepps, I've been roughing mine up with carders. And I wish we could get wool batts like that here! That's a day's worked saved! Nice photos of the process too, thanks

Thanks everyone. The only thing I was going to say was that I don't think this technique would work as well with black or dark coloured nepps. Because each dot is kind of fluffy, you can see those fibres when it's felted. So if you used black nepps on a white background, the space between the dots would come out grey. Know what I mean? It didn't matter so much with the white, because my batt had some lighter coloured fibres throughout it anyway.

That came out great. It must have take much patience to get it laid out the way you wanted.
