Thanks for that, Lyn I've never looked either, they might have it at the corner shop for all I know, I was surprised when I saw they had washing soda there I was wondering whether I could make my own starchy paste stuff from the water I cooked my pasta in

Those look really nice Karen. I can see the light shining on them when I enlarge the photo. What are you planning to do with it now?

I did a class with the medium. I did some with spray starch that I cut up and felted in to felt. it is hard to cut it up and falls apart really easily. I think if you used something that would stick the silk together better but would dissolve easily when rewetted it would be best. I don't know what that is though.

I must have used more starch on mine because they didn't fall apart and I felted them in without a problem.

Some of mine came apart, Ann, and I had two thin layers, so I sprayed the cotton before the first layer, sprayed the fibres before adding a second layer, then sprayed those too. I'm going to look into getting the powder starch like Lyn found on Amazon

Whatever happened to the 'Robin' starch my mum used to use? What do you think about using arrowroot?

Give it a go - arrowroot is pretty sticky.

Just had to give this a try! I placed mulberry silk fibre, carrier rods and some hankie between 2 sheets of water soluble fabric, all between 2 sheets of baking parchment. Sprayed with water and pressed down.
I'm now drying some multi-coloured gel :0) We'll see what the mess looks like when it's dry! :!

Sorry, light's not good, can't see the sheen. Will certainly try this again - with a few changes in technique.
