I love the TED talks. That was a really cool video, just the color inspiration alone was marvelous.

Nice I loved the spinning humminbird and all the butterflies. I watched a tv series not so long ago about pollination and how we're losing our insect pollinators because of our choice of plants and farming methods. The woman looked at schemes to improve the pollinator populations and one simple way is to stop planting 'showy' plants, like doubles and plant singles instead, the doubles have barely any pollen and are too hard for insects to get to, wide headed plants like verbena bonariensis, umbelliferous ones and more native plants really help too. One farmer who tried adding insect friendly perennials aswell as his re-established hedge said in one season he also had no need for insecticides because the eco system was there to deal with it naturally

I did not realize that bats drink nectar. And that they nurse their babies in flight.

Hey Judy - the nursing bat was a real surprise to me too! I almost did a 'double take' when I saw that.
