thank you ladies for your nice comments. Aphee, congratulations on your baby son. Just enjoy time with him, wool can wait. Cathy, you got some wonderful yarn and wool top - looking forward to seeing the finished project. To answer your question Marilyn: yes, I used pencil roving and cotton gauze. Crazy wool is lots of fun.

Thanks Nada. It just didn't look as thick as the pencil roving I've seen.

Yesterday was great fun and here is a little taster of the stash I came away with from raw fleece to beautifully spun and dyed yarn. Here the washed and very wet fleece from a manx coaghtan Here is the dry white and black locks of a wensleydale Here is a batt of shetland jacob and cheviot with a patiently waiting spindle

Then as I couldn't resist I had to buy Sari yarn for weaving into bags Beautiful reared in Northumberland, spun in Yorkshire and dyed by hand sock yarn for atleast two pairs of socks and DK for a monkey Unlike the picture, my monkey is going to be striped :-) I did show restraint - after trying out a few spinning wheels I came away with so many ideas of what I really want, now to find a second hand one.

My very cheeky husband has just put this on my facebook EXTRACT FROM THE SUN NEWSPAPER 25.10.16: A woman who leapt onto the stage during ZZ Top's Glastonbury set and cut parts of the band's beards with shearing scissors claimed she needed the material for her latest weaving project. Carole Gascoigne, from Scotland, who claims to be a wool addict, said, "In my defense, I am also a ZZ Top fan...but nothing gets between me and spinning."

Ha ha. Like your husband's sense of humour! Carole A super dooper haul . I've been waiting for your Wooly confessions! Wasn't it a splendid 'do'? I was tempted by that Northumberland/Yorkshire sock yarn too, it's beautiful.

Nice haul, I love wensleydale. I haven't ever tried the other. And a real card for a husband.

Carole - too, too funny!! It sounds like your hubby has a similar sense of humor as mine. Good luck ;-) I'm jealous of your haul. My haul from MSW is still packed up. I've been afraid to unpack it until my room is ready. Good luck with learning how to knit socks. I started some years ago, but only do about a pair a year. Every time I have to re-do the first heel 5-4 times before I get it right. I always knit bottom-up so I don't have to worry about running out of yarn. I also do both at the same time - not on the same needles, but I'll cast on and do the toe for one, then cast on & do the toe for the other, then both insteps, then both heels. That way they'll be slightly similar, and I'll finish both of them.
Aphee - We were wondering how you were doing. Was Alexandre born in the best month of May?
