I have so busy recently with work and not had time for my creative stuff. This is very amateurish as I see we have some wonderful spinners here. I was at the Edinburgh yarn festival and came home with a drop spindle and a rigid heddle loom (I don't know what happened but another Carole took over) and here's what happened

What a pretty drop spindle! Lovely yarn colours and the weaving is impressive.

That's my plan, it may take a few weeks but I need to be more creative and back in the hub, I've missed not being part of this great forum.

Drop spindle is great fun. You can make all kinds of cool yarn to use in felting and weaving.

Drop spindle is great fun. You can make all kinds of cool yarn to use in felting and weaving. That's if you're coordinated enough to do it. I'm all thumbs. :-(

Nice to see you, Carole The spinning and weaving is lovely. I really want a wheel and loom, but I've never tried either so wouldn't know where to start!

That's funny Zed, I had you down as a spinner - when I saw that you had responded I thought I was going to see some sage advice, you must be a spinner in your heart. After starting with a spindle I would love a spinning wheel too, I also want to card - I know you do that :-)

Welcome back Carole. Very impressive weaving, I wouldn't have guessed you were a beginner. Your drop spindle is beautiful, mine are very utilitarian. I'm wanting a wheel too. All being well, we're off to Wingham Wool tomorrow to look at some. Hoping I find one to suit my pocket.

My first visit to Wingham Wool today. It's a wonderful place, a veritable Aladdin's Cave, they have everything one could want for felting, spinning, weaving...... The high point was trying out some wheels and I brought one home with me. An Ashford Kiwi, nothing flash, but it does what it says on the tin. No pressure to go up market and sound advice. They have shot to the top of my favourites. Oh, and you get £15 worth of fibre of your choice thrown in. I chose some lovely, lustrous, Masham - a whole kilo, which should keep me busy on wheel, dyepot and needles for some time. The wheel is a birthday present, so I thought I'd put in an early request to Santa for a loom.
