I had to join Flickr to put the photo on and I had a moment of panic - I don't understand Flickr yet - I managed to upload dozens of various photos and it took me ages to work out how to delete them! But eventually I managed to add the photo to the felting and fiber studio Flickr page. Sorry, I can't work out how to put this image in here so that you can make it bigger - but you can see it bigger in Flickr. The inspiration photo doesn't belong to me - it's a photo I looked at on google images - www.outdoor-sport-leisure.net/sailing-wind-surfing.htm

Lyn you posted it fine. You don't have to add it to our flkr account to post it you can do it from your own. I don't know how to make it go bigger either. The picture is great. I got that it was sailing right away, before reading your post. You captured the feel of sailing or wind surfing very well.

That's a nice interpretation Lyn and it would make a good logo for a sports team.

Thank you Zed - I remembered that there were instructions somewhere but I couldn't find them!
Thank you for the challenge - it's whetted my interest in abstract and I think I'll be doing another one.

I'll try to give this one a go!
Have to say that my felt failures came in very usefull last week. After having new hard flooring installed, all the furniture was in need of felt pads. No basic B&Q pads for our stuff, no, no, we have pads with silk embellishments - shame no-one can see them!

I've had a go at another abstract representation. It's approx 36cm x 27cm. I wet felted a piece of 'sky' from a few different blue merino wools, then I needle felted the seagull onto it using 100% wool yarn in various shades of white, grey, lilac and purple. I cheated a bit with the eye - it's a bead! To see it larger please look at Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/16541799@N02/7109906057/in/photostream

Wow! I don't think adding a bead qualifies as cheating I like how you've used the yarn, it works really well and looks like feathers.
