It’s time for the second quarter challenge. I've chosen abstract representation. Find a picture and do it over as an abstract. Here are 3 abstract styles to give you some inspiration. Put your inspiration and the finished picture in our flicker group and label it as a studio challenge. Post it here too. I work abstract a lot. I have two pieces on my blog now and am working on another. However, people don't really like abstract as much as they like representational.

I agree with you Judy - it would seem that representational art is preferred by most.

I've been working on a few things, similar to this:

Thanks, Ruth I doubt I'll use this one, too detailed, I tried a few photos with the same effects, some had very weird results, some looked good.

Hmmmmm. Abstract is not so easy is it?
I'm having a second go this morning (first go got flung in the bin last night - I know I should've kept it but I was in a fit of pique at the time, and now it's got teabags and eggshells on it so I'm not getting it back out).
I work in a kind of impressionist style, so to make something that has no relation to anything at all (just colour and shape) is difficult for me.
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more...

Oooops - I really got my knickers in a knot didn't I?
After my posting just know, I scrolled up and re-read Ruth's OP and I saw 'abstract representation' not 'abstract' (senior grey-matter moment between my reading of the challenge and getting the wool out?)
Okey dokey - back to the drawing board.

I'd still get it out of the bin, Lyn I've had one attempt at this, it might be a bit too abtract though. It's needlefelted. I have some others I've been working on, I just need to work out if I want to use fabric or needlefelt or maybe prefelts and wet felting

Lyn try what zed did with photoshop or take the images in the picture and make them into basic shapes. you could change up all the colours make a forest in pink and blues with a green sky. If you look at the pictures you can still see what they are.

Ann - I've taken basic shapes from a picture and I've finally felted a piece (after several false starts!) that I hope fits the criteria for the challenge. It's drying now, so I'll take a photo tomorrow and post it.
I worry that I've abstracted the image too far - never mind - we could have a guessing game eh?
