Hello! Anybody would have a clue how this in made? Do you think she has uses a type of punch to do that (same size, same shape)? I can not imagine cutting those one by one...thought it looks nice. i84.servimg.com/u/f84/11/86/91/95/_mg_0810.jpg

There are plenty of machines that do this type of thing now. Like the Cricut. Not sure how thick they can cut but I do know there are ones specifically for fabric. But it's possible that she cut these individually as they don't look completely even.

Thanks Ruth, I am not familiar with the tool you have written about. It was just by curiosity because I would not have the patience to cut them one by one!

There are other non electronic models that aren't expensive. It's all about how hard you want to work. :-)

I have the Silhouette. I use it mainly for sign making, but have also used it for making templates for resists for felting. Mainly for custom made felted alpaca mittens. I never thought about cutting felt with it! I might have to try this on my scrap felt.

Liz - do let us know how the Silhouette works cutting felt. It would be interesting to find out if it would work. I always thought it would be good for cutting prefelt.

I wondered if they were cut bigger and then felted more. the edges look felted not raw cut.

Yes Ann, i noticed that too. They must be felted again after being cut. Lots of work and patience...!

I thought that too.
People have been talking about Sizzix type cutters with felt for as long as I've been felting, but I've never known anyone to actually try it.

The other day I saw some one using leather punches to cut circles form felt. I know someone who did some but she was using a thick 50%wool 50% acrylic or polyester commercial felt. it was very tight and hard. I have some machine cut prefelts that one of the companies used to make but they no longer make them. I think they were just to expensive.
