I've been experimenting with creating pieces of felt with undyed wools, silks and yarns then dyeing them. I love seeing the way the difference in the colours as they are taken up by the various materials. Here are some of the small shot glass vases and I love that the white flowers didn't dye at all! These were all done with Wilton food colouring - the purple gives a nice variation as the colour breaks giving turquoise as well My next batch will be dyed with Eurolana dyes

They are lovely. Dyeing is always an experiment with unknown results many times.

Beautiful results - I like the way the flower stayed white too.

Very nice - I have done this method on several projects and it is always interesting to see how it turns out.

Lovely vases Marian, and as Marilyn says, dyeing always gives unexpected results.

Maybe 2016 will be the year I try dyeing. Lovely results. LOL Frances! I was peeling a beet left over from Holiday cooking (I don't usually eat beets). I just HAD to collect the peels and save them for whenever I have time to dye. I like those colors, Marian.

Nice experiment. I often make nuno felt scarves in white and then dye them after. It's a lot of fun. It's interesting with that you can dye the silk with acid dye and then if you want dye just the silk with fiber reactive dyes.

I know that there are more dyes to experiment with, but which are the fiber reactive dyes and would they not dye wool at all? that sounds like more fun to add into my dyeing experiments. Here are the eurolana dyed ones and one more dyed with the breakable wilton violet food colour

Very pretty - love the 'breakable' turquoise and purple one. I don't know if we can get Wilton in the Uk but there's probably something equivalent.

Lovely variety of vases, Marian! Have you found the Wilton dyes to be colorfast when wet-felting them? Wilton dyes are readily available throughout the United States and are very light and compact, even in small sets…so if you travel to the States or have American friends visiting, the dyes would be easy to tuck in a suitcase.
