Hi Everyone!! I just discovered this forum!!  I wanted to share some of my needle felted creations with you!  I create tutorials on YouTube re: needle felting.  Some of my favorite things to felt are cute disney and sanrio characters.  Here are some of the characters I created using needle felting:

Hi - thanks for the tutorials. Your characters are cute. How do you get around the use of Disney images as they seem quite particular about who reproduces their images?

Hi! That's a good question. I would argue that my use of the characters falls under an exception to the general exclusive use right granted to copyright holders called "fair use". I'm not merely taking their characters and copying them exactly, but I am transforming them and putting my own spin on them. For instance, Sanrio doesn't make tsum tsum characters; I am merging the two concepts. For all the tutorials I am presenting them in a manner that includes needle felt instruction and commentary. This is called the fair use exception, and I would argue that my use is transformative use.
