We're all like mad scientists with emphasis on the "mad".

Great selection of shades Judith, may I ask what modifiers you used? How did you get the 5 shades from each mordant?

I am with Zed on this I start out all neat and tidy and organised and by the time I am half done I have forgotten what I wanted to do and what I have already done. I read a quote somewhere " the biggest lie we ever tell ourselves is; I will remember that"

I'm glad it's not just me who's that messy and disorganised! You get a load of great results though, that way!

A very interesting post, Judith, thank you for being patient & organised on our behalf. I'm so keen to experiment with the natural printing (I did just a little last year) but I really don't have that sort of patience to find out how to replicate results & I'm still a little nervous of how light-proof & washable the items are? Zed that was hilarious....that's me except I do even worse, I start with a project in mind then get excited & veer off-piste... so in your 2nd picture there would also be me in another room laying out roving & forgetting the fibres in soak....I think that's why I daren't allow myself to get into dying. & the table, floor, dogs would all be dyed along with my fingers.

Great selection of shades Judith, may I ask what modifiers you used? How did you get the 5 shades from each mordant? Teri. There were only 4 shades from the mordants:- Unmordanted, iron, copper and alum. I realised after the dyebath that I wanted to use 5 modifiers, so had to split one skein from each mordanted batch to give 5 skeins per mordant rather than 4 - 20 skeins in all. I took one skein from each mordanted batch and modified as follows:- Unmodified, acid, alkali, iron, copper, - 20 shades. Messing up experiments makes it more diffult to explain!!!
