How do you get 20 shades with 16 skeins? I can't wait until the end.. I HAD to ask!

It really has been very dark hasn't it, Judith? I haven't been sleeping well and set my alarm for about 9.15 today, when it went off my first thought was 'Oh no, I didn't reset it after a nap'. I thought it must be 5.30am. I have an old CRT monitor so can see the differences on the flickr photo, but if you want any help editing photos, let me know

Thanks zed. I was up to see the beautiful sunrise this morning and thought it would be a good day for photos. By the time I'd had breakfast it the fog had come down and I needed a light on. Another day perhaps and I may well ask for help with editing.

I'm going to try to do photos this morning, but it's ridiculously dark again.
Did you vary the amount of modifiers, or are the differences because of a combination of mordant and modifier (or no mordant/modifier)?
You got lots of nice shades.

The differences are a combination of mordants and modifiers or no mordant of modifier. I think a red dye would have shown better on the photographs, but I had to work with what I had to hand.

Judith, the last pic had very subtle differences. I assume this was the third and final phase. Did you get the results you expected?

Yes Marilyn, this was the third and final phase. Whilst I knew what I was trying to achieve, I was pleased the experiment worked, though it was tedious keeping track of which was which. Then I thought of making labels from Tyvek and permanent marker so they could go into the liquids without losing the information.

Very nice Judith. Good idea on using the Tyvek and marker. I'll have to remember that for future reference. Although I rarely keep such good track of what I'm doing when I'm dyeing.
