Most excellent, Judith. I see you like to do “big” projects, ha ha. The borders are intriguing. What kind of plants did you use?

Ruth - I think it could be a keeper. I've just mounted a couple of smaller ones - 20" x 16". will post some photos later. Cathy - I used knopper galls, elderberries and sloes, flowers:- fennel and fuschia, leaves:- sumac, oak, sycamore, horsechestnut, smoke bush and cranesbill - may have been something else! A bit of rusty water too.

Thanks, Judith! Don’t know what most of those plants are but sounds interesting. In fact, don’t think I’d recognize an oak tree even if an acorn fell on my head! ha ha

Judith, you need to do a class or at least a tutorial!

Judith, you need to do a class or at least a tutorial! I'm useless at tuts. I either forget to take photos at the most significant points or I remember the photos and the piece doesn't turn out right. I need a tutorial on 'how to make a tutorial'.

Towards the end of September's daily dose thread, I posted that I'd got my hands on a load of Rowan 'Biggie', a chunky merino wool yarn. Here are 2 scarves I have made with it - fairly simple, but warm & cozy: www.flickr.com/photos/62077747@N05/21940131246www.flickr.com/photos/62077747@N05/21779402399I laid down several lengths of the yarn (having loosened the tighter parts, thanks Lyn), put merino & corriedale down (2 thin layers), a little thicker than cobweb but still light, then more yarn in between the bottom rows. Wet felted quite easily. So glad to be getting back into felting after the heat of the summer.

Your scarf looks terrific, Jill! This sounds like something fun to try. So, Rowan lengths on top and bottom, corriedale and merino in-between?

Lovely Jill! Classy look indeed and I like the fringes.
Sad news - Rowan Biggy is discontinued! (I've got quite a few balls though in several colourways in my stash boxes.)

Yes Cathy, that's exactly right - any woolly open-ish weave wool yarn would work, of course. A very easy way to make tassels for scarves!
I have to keep experimenting, as I have loads of the stuff left. I think it'll be good used between silk & wool as an inclusion for the texture, & there are other variations of these to be made - once my new W.O.W. order with some cream colours arrives.

They're great, Jill Judith, here you go : feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/tips-for-workshops.pdfMaybe it doesn't have to be a tutorial as such, i.e following along for a specific project, but more an 'instructional' where the photos are more for informational or illustrative purposes. I think a lot of people would be interested, it really is hard to know where to start, and everyone who knows talks about it in terms 'outsiders' just can't follow.

We're off on a short break on Weds so will look at it more closely next week.
