I'd better get making they could become the new accessory item in Scotland - it does look a whole lot better in real life and it sits beautifully and it sparkles :-)

This weekend I put some of Zed's excellent advice into practice, your insightful comment that we don't spend enough time felting because our time is misspent on trivial activities such as cleaning, might have been said in jest but was spot on! I am really quite proud to say I have not done any cleaning or gardening all weekend and this is how I spent my time instead: A cat-eating-fish cat cave A pine cone-inspired bowl: And finished a couple of scarves I started months ago but didn't like the rolled hem, so cut it off and felted over the edges instead: My house might not be spotlessly clean (but then it never is) and the ironing mountain is only a few inches from the ceiling but I am happy

Teri, fabulous work! Everything you made is unique and colorful! It’s so inspirational to see you go at it with multiple projects. I’ve been in a felting slump lately, but I would love to try that cat cave. What size is it, and how long did it take to full?
Thanks for sharing your work!

Wow, wow, wow! All those projects are brilliant! I like the fun of the fish eating cat pod and the pine cone bowl is uniquely pretty. That scarf would look great topping a classic little black dress. You must have worked long and hard and not had much sleep over the weekend.

Thanks Cathy, I'm afraid I am a bit of a creative magpie, if I get an idea in my head I can't resist starting it, even if it means what I am currently working on will end up in my UFO box for a while [embarrassed] This cave is 62 cm long x 46 cm high. When you are planning your resist, place the mouth so the lower rim will be approx 10 cm from the ground, so the cat can step in without stooping down (its a bit like placing a cat flap at the right height). I use 5 or 6 layers of wool (laid fairly thick) and full quite hard, about 20 min of rolling and kneading and 20 min in the washing machine before the final shaping by rubbing with a wad of bubble wrap. All up, it took me about 8 hours to make this fish but at least an hour of that was cutting up all the little resits for the fins etc. Please post a picture of your finished cave.

Wow, that's some cat cave and the pine cone vessel is really sweet. Nice scarves too, I especially like the 2nd one. A good idea to ditch the hem, to me rolled hems and nuno just don't seem to go together.
I did clean the house today, but that was because we had visitors coming. Tomorrow we'll be back to the usual chaos.

Teri, your projects are awesome all very creative and unique. You are an inspiration! You're right about rolled hems. They are not all they are cracked up to be. :-)

Great work Teri - love it all! And no cleaning of the house here but I did have to do fall outside work before the snow flies.

Oh Terri - never clean the house again "just felt" these are wonderful, your use of colour is genius, I particularly like how you have designed your scarves and you have used some great techniques on your fish and your cone - superb

Wow, Teri. Can I spend a month and just absorb all you can teach me?? I do want to felt a cat cave, but I'll be lucky if it more than just a round two-toned bubble. How big was your resist for the inside of the cave? What type of fiber did you use? For your pine code, are the sticky-out bits felted separately then felted on later in the process? Are those pre-felts on your scarves?
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!!
