I wish I could get down to floor level as she does!
It's a variation of what I did to make the giant bead for the challenge - the mat doesn't pressurise the wool fibres as your hands would.

I do the same just on the table with smaller bamboo mat. And with more energy,I like my ropes firm!

I've been using this method for a long time and like Felicity I work on the cunter using a small bamboo mat- no need to go on your knees.

I didn't understand the floor thing, especially a wooden floor. I use a bamboo mat on the table as well. My back would NOT forgive me if I used the floor!

I do it on the table I have all different widths of stick blinds and sushi mats. It helps to do some dry felting with it too it compacts faster. but don't go to fast or you get folds that look like cracks in the rope.

Lyn, I have never seen this tutorial before.. It is excellent. Thanks for sharing.. But I would never do on my knees and on a Nice wood floor.. I will give this a try the next time I want to felt a rope..
