I think one from the floor would be more useful than one from the ceiling.

I can see how one dangling from the ceiling might be useful, especially if you like to use sanders when you work. I often wish I could suspend a camera directly above my work area, if I was starting from scratch, I would definitely include some sort of camera mount or bracket.
I would be worried about having an electrical socket on the floor with all the water that often drips off my work area.

extra outlets never hurt. Although I can't see myself getting on a ladder to plug something in on the ceiling. It depends on how you have your workspace organized. A plug on the floor in the middle of the room sounds practical unless it's near water so you don't have to run cords across walking space. Sounds exciting!

Great picture with such nice bright colours Teri. Congratulations on the studio Elizabeth the ceiling is good if you plan on using a sander. Not in the floor because of water. I have mine about head height around the room, low enough to be accessible for what ever you need and high enough that they don't get wet. 2 of mine end up inside the shelving ( mine don't have backs)so I can plug a boom box and my phone in while it is on the self.

That is a beautiful work of art, Teri! All the colors work together in a harmonious way. It reminds me of a tropical under the ocean scene with the vibrant colored wildlife and plants.

Thank you everyone, Angie, this was based on a photo of a tropical so it's interesting that you are still seeing that. I am toying wth different names for this piece but most centre around the tropical reef theme. Judith, I used adobe and palette fx but went with the wider range from pallete fx

Beautiful Terri
A ceiling outlet is great - we have one in the basement - you plug in an electric cord that is on a reel and then you pull it down when needed and then it retracts itself - no ladder needed. Hope that is a good explanation of what I have
Also be sure all the outlets in the studio are GFI protected - that way if water and electricity mix the power immediately shuts off. Tell your contractor you will be using lots of water.

GFI is a good idea. Guess it's what we call RCD (Residual Current Device) in UK. I probably wouldn't be here today without it. I sliced through the flex of the hedge trimmer a few years ago!
