For those that have never read 'FELT' magazine, it's published in Australia twice a year (June and December) and it might be available for purchase in your own country, either by subscription or from a craft store. I'm in the UK and I subscribe via: MANOR HOUSEI think it's a bargain at £11.90 (approx US $18) for two issues delivered to my door. There are always interesting articles to read. It's also available as a digital download. Just to add, I really like this magazine because it is much more focussed on "how to" than most textile art magazines that are more focussed on glossy pictures and bios of the artists.

What a fabulous piece! I love the colours and shapes you've used.
I'm intrigued by the design - did you have a plan when you started or did you just wing it?

Thanks Lyn, I would love to say this was in my head before I started but really I just had a few curvy waves in my head that formed the silk pieces in the back drop. The prefelts were largely the product of looking at it and thinking, "it needs something in this space", placing some felt, not liking it, cutting up the prefelt, relaying it and so on.
Using the colour selector programs has worked incredibly well for me, I will definitely be doing something similar again.

WOW, Teri I can see what you mean about the colours, did you use the cocoons? I can't get your pic to enlarge to have a good ol'snoop. You know your description of your process and looking at your piece it reminds me of felt version of a zen doodle, Love it :-)

You have used cocoons, I've just been onto your blog and seen ALL your pics - fabulous
I have received my viscose, now to buy dyes, ebay seem to have a few packages reasonable price with soda ash included, then I may have to buy cocoons too, the ones I dyed previously no longer look like cocoons!!! better start again.

Teri--really gorgeous design! The colors, placement…terrific. I’ll try staying up late tonight and see if my felting designs improve.

No digital copies available for FELT MAGAZINE! That’s what I learned from my early morning inquiry from Alison Bowyer at Manor House Magazines. They only sell “the real thing.” Quite costly for a subscription to the USA. Contemplating.

Thanks everyone Glad you found the blog post Carole, there are lots more photos and close ups on there for anyone who is interested. I like your zen doodle analogy too, it's not something I have tried to do before but now you say it I can see the similarities Elizabeth, I am soooo jealous, what I wouldn't give to have my own studio instead of having to clear everything away each evening, please do show some pics so we can live vicariously through you

Pictures please Elizabeth. :-) This is just the first discussion. It will be a while before it's ready for photos, but I WILL share. Question for all of you.... do you think an electric plug on the ceiling would be useful? How about from the center of the room from the floor? One? Both?
