Hugo's relative I had this piece laid out for about a week before I found time to felt it. It's strips of silk, synthetic and cotton fabrics, plus a random couple of pencil rovings. I probably should have spaced them out more and had a quieter background. nuno weaving par Zedster01, on ipernity A few of the strips didn't felt in as firmly as the others, but there are lots of nice textures. silk and synthetic chiffon par Zedster01, on ipernity

This gives an interesting texture. What is the light blue fabric on the left which did not felt in well? How about the places where two fabrics cross over? Did you put some wisps of wool in between or was the base wool enough?

That’s quite a lot of different textures and fabrics. How do you remember the fabric contents of all those different pieces? Did you use merino wool as your base? It’s really an interesting piece!

Very cool Zed! I've been doing a lot of sample pieces and it's always amazing what felts and what doesn't. It's great you got most of it to felt in one big piece at least you can use it for something.

That's a great exercise to see what felts, Zed. I too have the same questions as above! What do you think you'll use it for?

Thanks, everyone It's two layers of Merino on the bottom, though I did the fabric strips first, then added the wool. I think it's pretty much all two layers because the shrinkage pulled them all together. there's no Merino between, just the migration holding them. The shiny blue on the left is synthetic habotai. Oh, I don't 'remember' all the fabrics really, cotton and silk are usually easy to identify, the rest is either viscose or fully synthetic. And they are all in labelled boxes

I really like it Zed! And I like the 'noisy' background.

It looks really cool. I don't think the background takes anything away.

This is lovely, I really like all the different textures, your use of colour makes it visually a compelling piece as I just want to keep looking at it.
