Hello my dear ladies, I just have a bit of a trial with nuno felting. But only with Ponge 5 and cotton and a some synthetic. This is a Chiffon scarf project. The scarf was 1,80 m long and 45 cm wide. I learned a lot and would do some things differently. So far, I personally like most Ponge quality of the endresult. Chiffon seems personally too limpy. plus.google.com/photos/107294010521418234963/albums/6161638327726095777?banner=pwa

Very Lovely, Michaela, I like silk chiffon too, especially with very light, thin wool. It is good for the summer.

Very nice Michaela. I've only used silk chiffon and silk gauze. It depends on how much wool you use and the look you want to achieve. I love texture so that's always my goal and silk is nice for summer.

Lovely colors and somewhat dramatic effect…nice work! Silk chiffon and pongee can mean different things in various areas. At my local fabric store, pongee is a bit heavier than chiffon and includes an iridescent quality in the weave. I like felting with silk gauze, more of an open weave--and somewhat easier to felt. I’ve learned through trial and error to look at the mommes before choosing my silk fabric.

I love the organic shape and look of the scarf. Well done. Nuno takes a bit of practice especially if you are using a variety of silk types and weights. I have found the most important part of nuno felting is patience.

Thank you, my dear ladies. Yes, trial and error are the right words. Ponge is heavier and not so easy to felt. But I really love this little "bubble" effect on the other site and it seems for me, the difference in work not soooo great (right word? No ? . I will in my fotoalbum for felting and fiber studio add some fotos and will write, when I have done. In Germany now near 9 o clock pm and so I say good night PS and Ruth, you are right: PATIENT

Yeah, you don't get the ripples or 'bubbles' so much with chiffon, but I like the way it can sink in and become very much a part of the felt piece. It's good for keeping printed patterns with little distortion.

Hello Micaela. A very nice result. Which silk you choose very much depends on what you wish to make. I find Chiffon is easier to make nuno felt but my preference is those with some sheen such as Pongee or Habotai.
