Hi fellow felters,
After a few weeks of quilting, puppy fostering & visitors, I got back to some felting & made myself a reversible tunic. I dyed cotton scrim/ cheesecloth for 1 side, then used a small amount of merino, then silk chiffons for the outer layer. I am really happy with it, except for 1 big error - the neck is too big. The shoulders are too straight I suppose, so the neck gapes at the top (hope this makes sense, or maybe the photo will show it). I could cut the shoulders & sew a seam, however, I do like the scrim side too & if I seam it it wouldn't be reversible ... unless a French seam would work? Ideas anyone? I thought of rewetting & rubbing hard around the neck to see if I get more shrinkage there, but don't want it to get bigger!
HELP!!

Jill, the tunic is beautiful. Is the neckline really well fulled? If not, you should get more shrinkage. I didn't watch the whole video Nada posted but if you wet, soap and roll or rub just the areas in the direction you want them to shrink you should be able to get more shrinkage. Good luck!

You could also try a couple of tucks/pleats that are blind stitched so it would still be reversible - Love the color and style.

Great tunic, Jill, and I think Nada’s and Marilyn’s advice is spot-on. Please be sure to show us the results after additional fulling!

Thanks everyone & yes, of course I could!
It was a mixture, I think, of laziness, forgetfulness & fearofmakingiitworseness!
So, I watched most of Nada's video (great link, thanks),then I wet & soaped the neck area, rolled in my hands, rubbed onto my bobbly mat & rubbed with my palm washboard, & in less than half an hour Ta Daa! It's fixed. In fact, it was so easy I worked a bit on the under the arm bits that are always baggy, too. It's drying & I'll take another photo tomorrow, but I think it's fine.

For any other time: could shoulder seems be sewn with a zig zag stitch to make them still reversible? I'm glad you fixed it

Beautiful tunic and lovely colours Jill. Agree with what others have said about rolling and rubbing in the direction you want more shrinkage. If that doesn't work, it looks like the felt might just be thick enough to cut out a wedge and use some hidden stitches to hold the edges together.

Jill, I don't know which is more beautiful - your tunic or the scenery! Great work!
