Thanks, Ann and Aphee. The pod is such a versatile shape once you learn the resist method. Aphee, very nice dyeing experiments. Great fun, isn’t it? When I dye, I’m like a little kid waiting for Santa.

what fun.... the pods are great, I think because they are all so different we have to keep making them, and I love the dyed fibres - the colours compliment each other beautifully

I love it when an order comes and you get to see and feel the fibres, what did you order?
I'm feeling excited today as I have finally got the £'s together to order an embellishing machine - I had a go on a friends what complete fun that was :-)

I ordered mostly fibres. None of mine have run out yet, even though it has to be at least 7 or 8 years since I got them, and I've done tons of swaps, but I wanted to order some for the workshop weekend I'm doing and the order was getting big, so I made the extra postage worthwhile and also took advantage of a 10% discount. I ordered some of that Botany lap waste that others get, and also some pencil roving waste. And a few colours too.

Thanks, Carole! Can you tell me about the embellishing machine and what it involves?

On top of an embellishing machine, I also needed a sewing machine, so finances were important, Maryilyn I found this Baby Belling www.bsk.co.uk/sp1000-creative-embellisher---special-price-limited-time-only-120-p.aspThen I went searching across the internet and found a janome sewing machine - the one they used on the sewing bee series, it was their last one - lucky me :-) Cathy I've only had one small play on one, during a felting workshop I was running, but it was great fun - I think other people on the forum have them and can probably say alot more than me. It basically has 5 needles - I went for 5 needles as I didn't want anything that felted too hard (if you know what I mean) you can get up to 12 I think. It will embellish felt into felt, silk, ribbons, fabric, I even embellished a silk carrier rod onto a bag. Finger tapping now waiting for it to arrive.

indeed mine has 12 needles (because I hardly felt manually, as I have a pain in my right arm), it's just to go faster but I have to take care so that it doesn't felt too much
happy hours coming !!

Very cool Carole. I have a Simplicity with 12 needles like Aphee. I think you'll do fine with the 5 needles. I don't use mine much, but will try a few projects this year. Please be sure to post pics of your projects when you finally get the machine. :-)

Carole, I was thinking of an embroidery machine, confusing that with the embellisher, which is more like a needle-felting machine. Thanks for setting me straight.

Cathy I have used an embroidery machine with felting, I had this crazy idea to embroider a swallow onto a felted pod - so first of all I made the pod, then between water soluble fabric I laid out rovings same colour as the pod, hooped it all up, put it through the machine and then needle felted the swallow onto the pod - it actually wasn't very difficult, but I only ever made one!!!

I love the pod Carole! Everything about it is perfect - the colours you chose, the style of pod and the beading. I hope you've got it displayed prominently so that it can be admired.
