I know we all have our favourite suppliers, thought I'd share with you one of my favourites for buying silk. They are about the cheapest I have found, anywhere.
they are on Ebay - called 1188mall. & their silks ARE silk (unlike lots of cheap imitations on Ebay). Their P&P is often free, always cheap. They are in Hong Kong, so it can take 3 weeks or so for delivery, but I have to deal with that anyway where I live.
They have a good range of printed silk chiffons (which I use to make simple & very popular nuno scarves), they have loads of colours of crinkle silk chiffon - it's extremely good value - it shrinks in narrow & crinkled when wet, but you can iron it flatter & larger as you wish, so can be versatile. They do sell some plain white silk habotai too - it's 8mm I think, not the thinnest but with a nice sheen & again, excellent price.
I've just won an auction bid with them for a piece of silk burn-out velvet, that'll be fun to try!

Jill, do they give the Momme weight of the silks? I'll check them out. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think they do Marilyn, no. But mostly they sell chiffon, so it's super-light! the habotai/china silk is, I think, 8 momme.

I checked and it doesn't look like they do. Some interesting prints. Thanks again.

Some interesting prints Jill, thank you for sharing.
With the Euro so weak against the £ at the moment, Woolknoll are a good source of cheap silk, especially if you are buying in bulk (the 17 Euro shipping is a bit steep), I paid about £4 per meter for both chiffon and Habouti 5 silks a few weeks ago.
Silkcraft aren't too bad either, I think they are about £5 per metre and offer free delivery if you spend £50.

Thanks Terri, I like Silkcraft, used to buy scarves from them, good service. I'll look at woolknoll. Unfortunately I'm in the Eurozone so everything is expensive at the moment!
