The theme for this year is "Fire". I'm going to participate. Is anyone else?

Do you mind it I ask why? I thought I would try to get some kind of felt gathering going at where I'm now teaching classes to promote felting in our community. I made something last year but didn't send it in to be posted on the Felt United website. I just think it's a good occasion to celebrate felting.

I did it the first year, but they messed up my entry, there were two pieces to mine, one here and one in Atlanta, they just added them randomly, yet they seemed to include loads of pictures of theirs, even photos of the same piece in ten different locations, it just seemed like a self promotion event to me for a few felters.

I've never submitted my entries. I just do it to promote felt I guess. There are definitely cliques of felters out there that tend to promote only people in their own groups.

After the first one, me and Karen were talking about how a lot of people wanted to join in but hadn't been able to make anything on time or in the specific colours, but had done it their own way...displayed felt, held felting days, opened their studios etc We started planning a day of celebrating/promoting felt. We did mention it on the old forum but it was when they had gremlins and posts got lost. Anyway, Kay decided to Hijack it, promised a whole new section to the forum, galleries, extra promotion etc etc, then as usual, abandoned it without a word.
I'd be interested in a day of felt promoting as long as it didn't direct back to a select few for back pats.

For me its the wrong time of year. Spring would be better to hold an event. I don''t have space to do it at home. I could organise something at the farmers market but by the time fall arrives there is no room at the market as its going full tilt.
