That looks really good! I like the cd/dvd idea and her humour! I wouldn't trust myself with polystyrene balls though.

The tutorial seems thorough and on the surface is a good idea. Personally, I wouldn’t take the time necessary to make felt gloves as I prefer suede or leather gloves that are lined. However, once you make the lasts, you are good to go for many future pairs of gloves! It’s always fun to see what’s out there.

Very interesting tutorial Nada. I'm with Zed on the polystyrene balls. I'd have them everywhere.

I saw this tutorial a few days ago and put gloves on my never ending to do list. I have always wanted a pair of Red leather gloves but never purchased them - I have some red merino that will be perfect.
I will probably use rice rather than plastic - I can reuse the rice in a microwave heat pack. I avoid using plastic when there is a viable substitute.
Put the gloves in a baking pan or dish with a 2 or 3 inch rim and then use a funnel to fill them - the mess is in the pan.

Clever idea, Frances to use rice instead of plastics.

A very innovative idea and a good tutorial, though I'm with the eco brigade here - wouldn't use polystyrene - horrid stuff! Not sure I'd want to re-use the rice either - I just know I'd get it all soggy and soapy. Goog luck with your red gloves Frances, we'll look forward to photos and more tips.

One of the great things about this place is we can go through everything that could go wrong before even trying it, and come up with other solutions.
I've got some barley I bought for cooking something a while ago which I didn't like, so now I have a new use for the spare barley!

When my computer comes back I will have to watch. I did try some gloves a few years back. The hardest part was the wool would go around the fingers more than once. If I did it again. I would cut the wool so it wasn't so long.

so I finely went to see tutorial and it wasn't a video. I could have gone days ago. interesting technique. I never have any luck felting something part way then adding more wool on. when I made them I used a flat resist. I think using a smaller pair of plastic gloves and make a final shaping size might work better for me. I need one of those old fashioned overhead projector things so I could enlarge the resist better. Enlarging the fingers part is tricky.

I suppose this could always be started with the gloves empty like a flat resist, then filled up once the wool is all on and it's time to start rubbing.

NOT ABLE TO ACCESS BOARD VIA EMAIL LINKS - I'm not sure where to post this......none of the links I'm getting via my email to the proboard work......I keep getting error messages....however, I can access if I login and just read the board. I'm not having any trouble with any other email or online sights? Anyone have a clue about this?

It's rare I have an idea first before I try it the hard way and fail a few times, Ann What are the email links, Mary? Are they notifications that someone has posted on a thread you're interested in? I've not tried the email notification thing.

All the hidden links that come in via the subscription to the RSS feed.....which worked just fine up to a day or two ago..... The email I get looks like this: Last reply by koffipot on Thu, 22 Jan 2015 12:09:55 +0000 Read more… But when you click on 'read more'.....it takes me to the site and says 'it can't find the thread'. Here's the actual link that all these notification emails now go to: feltandfiberstudio.proboards.com/thread/2023-23260Perhaps this is no big deal.....I could simply just go to the site and read from there......but it's curious that it now doesn't seem to work. I'm leaving monentarily on a 4 day trip.....so maybe it will fix itself in my absence!! Thanks for listening.... Mary
