Thanks. Hats just don't suit me, but I enjoyed making them. I gave them away.

I wear a 23. I don't like tight hats. right now I use some raffia hat blocks ( for making raffia hats) form Frank's Rush and Cane. They are basic but give you a good way to keep your size consistent. They work well for putting folds and things in.

It was my youngest (4 years old then) under the not-yet-wet-felted grey hat. I eventually got it down to the right size for my older daughter (8 then). The youngest got the brown hat instead. I like using fabric in the hats as it gives them a bit more strength and I can use less wool, i.e. the hats can be quite thin and not so bulky.

Here is another hat I made, using my own head as a hat block. :-) I made it for my husband, who at the time was out grouse hunting and got caught in a snow storm. So I figured he needed earflaps. But for some reason, he has not used it!? ;-)

So Zara, I love the hat you made for your husband, but perhaps he is afraid of scaring the grouse away? ;-))
Seriously, I love the natural colors in your hats and how you embellished the hats for your girls with a floral pop of color.

Hello Zara,
Wow your youngest daughter looks so sweet in her lovely new hat... The hat is very beautiful and the pink and purple flower makes her hat more stunning.
The gray hat is great looking too. I reckon your DH has no appreciation for its warmth... Smile..

Great hats Zara - what fabric do you use? Thanks! I use loosely woven fabric in natural fibers, such as pure cotton or linnen. Old curtains from charity shops are a good and cheap source. :-)

I do write an English summary for my posts now, but a translator would be good, even if some translations are more amusing than informative at times. ;-)

I love all the hats Especially the ear flap one! I wish I had a reason to make more hats and unusual stuff, but it just seems a waste when they sit in boxes.
