Have any of you tried dyeing ramia (nettle) fibres? Before I make my own experiment I would like to hear what is your experience. Thanks.

Yep, I dyed it with procion dyes. It absorbed the dye a bit more than the golden 'stiffer' fibres like hemp and flax, but less than the 'fluffy' fibres like bamboo and viscose. It's in the photos in the other thread.

Nada, I dyed nettle when Marilyn and I had our big indigo dyeing day this past summer. It absorbed the dye well and had the deepest shade (you should find the pic on Flickr). Of course, it was a tan color in its natural state before dyeing. It was sourced from the Himalayas.

I always wonder about nettle things. who was it that thought these things really hurt when you touch them... I know lets make soda pop and cloth out of it.

Yes, nettle tea. It is very popular here. I remember my grandma used to make it for us children to improve blood.
