Florence Mine Art Centre is a local community funded project and this year we are going to have 12 large christmas trees in the gallery.
If anyone on this site would like to make a decoration for the textile tree please send them to:
Twelve Trees of Christmas Florence Mine Art Centre Egremont, Cumbria CA22 2NR
Great Britain.
The trees are arriving at the end of november but decorations from now, until 25th December 2014 are very welcome. Please send a stamped address envelope if you would like your decoration back. There is a loose enchanted christmas wonderland theme, but any decoration is welcome. I am going to post pictures for everyone to see. We also have the local press coming to take pictures.
I would also be grateful it you could pass on/Facebook, this information to any other textile groups/people that would like to contribute.

Sounds great Angela, I might try to get across the Pennines to take a look. I'll certainly try to get something made to send.

Thank you, Judy/Judith for posts. Florence Mine is an old mine. The art centre forms part of the old mine building...rooms and rooms. (haunted) www.florencemine.comThey make paint from the iron ore pigment but it runs as a community funded art centre. The tweleve trees of Christmas is my idea... fingers crossed that it goes well. They have done anything like this before. I'll defiantely put up some photos. Expecting 60 kids on one of the saturdays.

I hope you get lots of donations Angela - here's mine that I'll post tomorrow. I was looking at an origami site and saw a paper star (I'm not an origami-ist by the way) and I had a go with a piece of scrap paper. Hmm, I thought, instead of creasing paper, I wonder if I could crease some fabric? Trouble is, as I ironed a new crease into the fabric, I half eradicated the crease I made before. Doh! There are raw edges because neatening them would have made the pattern impossible to fold but the star will last long enough to hang up for one Christmas (it has a white hanging ribbon). feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/e57o0pjpurfziezw8oii.jpgIf anyone wants to have a go at the paper ones, here's the link - scroll down the page a bit as there are two videos to show how to do it. 5 point star

Great star Lyn! I can only imagine how challenging that would be with an iron. I may have to try it. Thanks for the link.
