I was fortunate to attend a fabulous Fall Retreat with Fiona Duthie this past long weekend in Quebec province, and she invited the locals to help us celebrate Felt United Day on Oct. 4th evening. There were approximately 12 attending, and we created a large piece of white felt with inclusions, brought by the attendees. We had a wonderful time! Felt United Day, Oct. 4, 2014 by catwycliff, on Flickr Inclusions--or “treasures”--were laid on white Canadian merino wool and then wet-felted. We all shared the work and results by cutting the large piece into 12 take-home segments.

Marilyn, Ann and Ruth--We had a fantastic time! A terrific group of people all around. We knew you were nearby Ann and so you were there in spirit. Everyone there was from Canada except a lady from Philly and me. On the same weekend, they were having a “studio open house” in Chelsea where artists opened their houses to tourists. We were so busy felting all weekend that a few of us had time to see just one studio, quite fabulous felting artist Donna Troop.
The felted group project turned out very well, with so many experienced hands. I saved you a piece, Marilyn!

Very funny, Zed! We do look a bit serious, but it was a lot of fun.
Judy, I did not make anything with my share of the Felt United piece--were were way too busy doing other projects. It’s only about 12 x 14 inches but I will have to think on the possibilities. I may just save it along with my other samples and experiments.
