I don't mind sharing at all. I think each hat made from this resist will be different because you can just shape it about any way possible because you have so much excess felt in the top part. In regards to the straight part, I think that part of the bottom portion of the circle is "added in" to make the straight part longer.

Hi Ruth, Can you explain what direct dying is please. I have made a hat lie yours out of white corridale wool and now I would like to dye it. I haven't dyed anything before, I have purchased some Landscape dyes and I would like it to be multi coloured. I am unsure of what technique to use... Cheers,

Joey - Can't wait to see your hat I soaked the hat in vinegar water and then poured dyes over the top of it. Then I kind of squished the dyes into the hat. It was a bit messy. I did it over a bucket. I've never used Landscape dyes. Are you supposed to use vinegar with them? Zed had a post about direct dyeing on the studio site. You can click on the little square button at the bottom of the forum to get there.
